Between is part of the Reach series, a group of paintings that emerged during a stretch when several of my coaching clients seemed to be having breakthrough after breakthrough.

This one feels a little different to me. It reminds me of what happens between two people just before someone takes the next step.

There are moments in coaching when I can see that a person is ready before they quite believe it themselves. Not because I know what they should do, but because I've watched them do the work. I've seen the evidence accumulate.

Sometimes my job in that moment is simply to nudge: You know you can do this, right?

That's what I see in these two forms. Neither pulling the other. Just enough connection to make the next reach possible.
