Drifting Home

Thank you Angela for this beautiful custom piece of art!I’ve never done anything by commission before and working with you was so easy and fun. Your artistic vision created something even better than I imagined. I love all of the elements you incorporated, now I can have some what makes the Cape so special hanging on the wall.

Recently, I had the honor of creating a commissioned Moss Art Work for a client's second home on Cape Cod. This project was a unique and highly collaborative experience, as the client contributed moss from her own property, making it an extraordinary and deeply personal creation.

From the very beginning, this commission felt special. The client has a deep love for Cape Cod and the home that has been in her family for generations. She wanted art that was unique and brought life into her he home. She loves plants but, like most second homeowners, she is not there often enough to keep living plants alive and thriving. Moss Art is an effortless way to bring life and vibrancy into one’s home without the constant maintenance that living plants require. She even collected moss, lichens, and driftwood from her yard hoping that I might incorporate them into the piece. Of course I happily obliged!

I take great pride in hand-preserving moss to ensure its vibrant and rich colors are beautifully preserved. Preserving moss while maintaining its natural hues is a meticulous and intricate process, as moss tends to turn brown and become hard and brittle when preserved. I have developed specialized techniques and a deep understanding of moss preservation that allow me to restore and enhance the colors and maintain the lush textures.

With the client's contribution of Cape Cod moss, lichens, and driftwood, the art piece became more than just an arrangement of greenery—it became a vessel for cherished memories. Each piece of moss carefully placed became a tangible link to the tranquility and serenity of Cape Cod. Throughout the process I had the pleasure of working closely with her, exchanging ideas and sharing progress along the way to ensure I captured the foresthetic of her Cape Cod home. It was a true collaboration.

When I presented the commissioned moss art piece to my client, her excitement and delight were palpable. Seeing her genuine joy and knowing that I had successfully captured her vision was immensely gratifying. It is these connections and the ability to bring nature's tranquility into people's lives that make being a Moss Artist so fulfilling.
