Not Crazy
A custom moss artwork created to transform a home office into a more personal, grounded space.
Initial consultation
Nick works from a home office in one of Boston’s more urban neighborhoods, where a train station and major highway are both within earshot. The small window in his office faces another building, with no trees or greenery in view.
He wanted the wall behind his desk to feel less sterile and more like him—especially because it appears on video calls throughout the day.
During the commission process, Nick shared that he grew up near the woods, worked at a golf course as a teenager, spends time on Nantucket and is drawn to deep greens, open expanses of moss, textured lichens and bright pops of orange.
The final piece was created in a large black frame, designed to become the focal point of his office and bring a sense of natural depth into a room that needed it.
Much of the moss was foraged near his childhood home, adding a personal layer to the finished work.
I love the piece that Angela made for me! She really listened and created something that that feels uniquely mine. I live in the city—and I love it—but the constant activity can be too much sometimes. Looking at the piece gives me a sense of calm.

His home office now has the one thing it was missing: a view into the natural world.
